Whoever wants to be great, must put others first, must welcome more, love more, and must become vulnerable to how that welcome, how that love, will change them.
A life of faith today means standing up to the dominant stories that are being told today and telling the gospel story louder.
Jesus models for us how important it is to listen to the stories of others, and how important it is to draw the circle of our community as wide as possible. In life, in death, in our learning and in our welcoming, God is with us.
We’ll get through this together. That, I think, is what this passage is all about. It is about where Jesus is for us in the midst of the stormy days of our life, but it is also about what us finding the courage to trust.
I love this passage from scripture because it shows the joy of abundance shared, but also reminds us that with what we already have, we can bring incredible change in this world.
Whatever situation you find yourself in, whatever situation in the world is plaguing your mind, whatever anxieties are trying to consume you, remember, you are in the midst of a much bigger story. A story of a God who loves us, the story of a God who promises new life.
