The Beatitudes in Luke are statements that point to the fact God sees. God sees the plight of the poor and the grieving and the hungry, and God will act. These are statements that assure the hearer that justice will come, God’s justice will come. Things will not stay the same.
We will all encounter our tipping points in life, those moments when we know that nothing will be the same again, when we are called upon to be brave, to make change, to follow a new path. May we be brave, and trust in the new life that is promised, knowing we are never alone.
We are invited into this exciting new chapter of the story of God’s people. But we should know by now, it s not our narrative to dictate. God will tell this story, but it is ours to be a part of, and it a path that will lead to new life.
A new dance with the Spirit is about to begin.
“What now?” Jesus answered that for us, by climbing out of the river and walking, walking out into the world. may we have the courage to do the same. Share the good news! Celebrate the fact that in this in, in our death, and in our life beyond death, we are never alone. Amen.
